Gear Shift indicators

I am thinking of adding a shift indicator to my car.
I can't decide on the JCW Gen1 or mod the R56 shift light to fit
MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - ALTA / JCW Shift Indicator DIY for the R53/GP
Does anyone have pics of the Gen1 JCW shift light or the Gen2 on a R53installed on their car?
The other cheaper option is Ecliptech - Shift I™

Here's some pics of the Gen2 off NAM;

Also, the Gen1 comes in black as well - some people have also fitted this in front of the driver, rather than above the speedo;

Just fit the Gen 1 version, Piece of piss to fit if you have a pre-facelift, and looks very OEM mainly becase it is. i have seen someone bastardise the R56 version and it looked poop in the R53. When theres a simple off the shelf solution available for £79 why mess about.

Would i bother fitting one again, not sure, I'd only fit it on a real quick car, as you'd look a goon putting it on a slow one as people behind can see it alot. best bit is when you turn the ignition on it runs throught the check LED sequence, but sometimes i just turned it off

Do you know where I can get my hands on one for £79 and who will post to Australia?
The local dealers want over $300 AUD

Is it much harder post-facelift for the r53?

i would have thought so as you have to remove the top part of the dash for drilling etc and i thought on facelifts the passenger airbag was int he top of the dash. don;t quote me on that though
