It would be appreciated if you could post your project on here and not just a link to another forum. Its a lot nicer to read through a well constructed thread and be able to reply on this site as I do not use either of those sites.

If your just going to post bitchy comments Nigel we will remove them as we are all tired of nonconstructive posting on here. All we asked him to do was post a proper thread, we have not removed his links or deleted his posts we would just rather people were part of our site than using it as a pin board.

Sorry I was a little eager to let you chaps know what I was doing and did not have the time to copy and paste all the info from the other sites as I'm at work in Costa Rica. I'm going to be working on the Mini this weekend so I'll post some up-dates.

Be serious, don't get an NS1.. get a proper cam, ns1 is junk. The standard Newman cam for the r50 is cheap and performs far better than the ns1. (actually all of the cams i have used perform better than the ns1).
If you need a rally cam, just get the Piper one, it performs really well at midrange where you need a rally car to actually perform.

Thanks Nick. Since looking into cams I read exactly what you posted. So I just need a mild cam as I'm not allowed to make many modifications. Do you have some part numbers for the Newmans and Piper?

Just quick history of my rallying: I’ve been building my own rally cars since 1987 which have been a MK2 Escort, MG Maestro?? Subaru Legacy , Suzuki Swift GTI and now a Mini Cooper! I’ve rallied in England(home is Nottingham) Dubai, Jordan,Lebanon,Abu Dhabi, California USA and now Costa Rica. Based in Boston USA I commute to Costa Rica 3 weeks out of every 5 so I started to rally down there in the Suzuki Swift GTI. Once I saw the Prodrive Mini I had to have something similar. So this year my Costa Rican co-driver bought a Mini on Ebay in the US and I’m preparing the car to run in the 2013 Costa Rica rally championship.

Not only do I totally build the cars but I drive them to work, to the events and do my own service. I market my team and have many sponsors to help with the expenses. I shipped the Mini from Miami to Costa Rica and plan to have the Mini ready for the 2013 rally season running in the N2 class. We have ran the Suzuki (N1) in the N2 class finishing in the top 3 so we are confident we can win N2 next year!

As a bonus I have written to David Richards at Prodrive who has shown some interest in my project sending me some T shirts and Mini decals.

The part no. for the Piper is MINBP270, for the Newman it is BMWI264/396PH1. The newman is a bit empty low down, the Piper is very good up to 5700rpm. Also the Kent MINI01 is very good, with a range up to 6-6300rpm.
