Basically, the handling is feeling really sloppy, mainly on fast motorway corners the car feels pretty unsteady. Probably not related, I have quite a strong pull to the left. Also, and some may more importantly, I have wheel gap!

The solution; replace my suspension but use 'budget' parts that will still fix the above.

I'm thinking:
- FK AK Coilovers
- Re-use the OEM Top Mounts
- Re-use the OEM dust boots to extend the FK AK life
- Powerflex Front Wishbone Rear Bush Set

Anything else I need to replace while I'm at it?

i need to do a repair to my passenger's side driveshaft cv boot.

yesterday was the first day i got to drive the car properly, and when i got back home james noticed a bit of leaking gunk. on closer inspection the cv boot has basically splatted some of the grease from inside of it onto the gearbox housing and i need some way of fixing it properly. this has stemmed from when we rebuilt the car, for a temporary fix, we cable tied the cv boot onto the driveshaft, this obviously isnt up to the job!

i will fill it with some new cv joint grease first, but for locking it into position would a jubilee clip be upto the job and, if so, does anyone know what size i need? failing that, is there anything else i could buy that would do it? ideally i want to fix it today, so bare that in mind!

cheers, rich

Hi,

The front end of the car feels really wobbly and disconnected. it turns out the front wishbone bushs and balljoints are shot. I am getting some new poly bushes and some OEM balljoints fitted. Is there any other items in that area that could need replacing?
I have had some bad luck with dodgy mechanics of late and I have found a really good one. However, he is a specialist Alfa and Fiat mechanic and he says that the front subframe needs to come off to to access the bushs. As he hasnt done it before he has quoted 5 hours labour (@ £25 p/h rather than £40 p/h mates rates.) he is an honest bloke and would not be offended if I told him a quicker technique. Is there one?

many thanks

Just wondered if anyone had taken apart and rebuilt their R56 brembos?

I have a new set that I would like orange, however to get them powder coated(for the best finish) I would need to take them apart as the seals etc would get damaged during the curing process. Is it something thats not worth attempting or can it be done?

Not what I wanted to do with brand new brakes but the red doesnt go with the orange on the car.

Any idea on price from BMW and labour charges for changing them out with OEM ones ? Is there an aftermarket alternative thats worth getting which doesnt scream out that its aftermarket to look at ??

Can I ignore this as the car is only staying for another 6months or so ?
Can only see the fronts but is it reasonable to assume the rears are in much the same condition ??

For the last 2 days my ABS and DSC lights has been coming on randomly. They've been on for about 4 out of every 5 journeys but then sometimes they just go off by themselves.

Also, when the light is off and I drive slowly and press the brake, it feels like the ABS does when you brake on ice, you can feel it judder a bit. It only happens the once then it goes away.

Any ideas? Is it likely to be a dodgy sensor or something more sinister?
